If there are trillions of planets in the universe someone must know about us?

That would be a nonsequiter, in that it does not follow that just because there are trillions of planets in the universe that anyone out there knows about us. Distances between occurrences of sapient life could be quite immense, and there's no guarantee that any of it out there has mastered interstellar travel.
