Will being induced at 38 weeks harm my baby?
Is it safe for baby to be induced at 38 weeks pregnant. I had at natural birth with my daughter 3 years ago at 41 weeks but had complications after delivery. I bleed very heavily (pph) which was very destressing. I also bled again heavily when I lost a baby at 16 weeks. It is highly possible I will bleed again with this baby and am very worried as I live an hour away from hospital and my first labour was very quick 4 hours in total. My midwife has only advised that as soon as I feel my first contraction to get to hospital ASAP so that they can put me on a drip and give me an epidural to control the bleeding. I am still not overally happy with this as my husband works away alot and I have a 3 year old to consider too. Should my labour be as quick or quicker than my first, it doesnt give me much time to sort out care for my daughter and get to hospital. I was thinking of asking to be induced at 38 weeks so that I can have piece of mind. I have read lots on being induced, all mainly negative comments. I am not overally concerned about the pain of my contractions due to being induced or the possibility that it might end up in c section. My only concern is if baby will be healthy and have no birth defects/breathing difficulties or learning difficulties due to being forced out early! All I have read is that it is only neccessary to be induced early if you have serious medical problems i.e high blood pressure, diabetes etc. All I know is that I am getting very stressed about the thought of being home alone with a 3 year old and not getting to hospital in time. Can anyone give me any advice on what to do or to reassure me that baby will be fine if I asked to be induced early. If there is any chance that baby could be harmed or suffer from coming a couple of weeks early then I will take my chances and not be induced
