Can I raise rabbits for food?

We have a modest backyard, and I'd like to get into the food business. Rabbits are like a delicacy, right? And at least the joke is that they reproduce rapidly. Could I raise a few dozen and sell them to the local Whole Foods supermarket? Or would they eat so much it wouldn't make sense?
